Iron Heart's 888S-21od takes the standard 888S-21 jean and overdyes the completed garment black. The 888 is Iron Heart's relaxed tapered cut, with a medium to high rise, room through the seat and thigh, and a taper from knee to hem.
The fabric is the brand's flasgship 21oz Japanese selvedge denim, woven with an indigo rope-dyed warp and a white, double-twisted weft in a right-hand twill. Each finished pair is steeped in black direct dye, which stains both the indigo denim and the stitching and removes any remaining shrinkage. With wear, the black fades to show blue in high-wear areas.
Earlier versions were overdyed with sulphur dye. Iron Heart switched to direct dye for its heavyweight overdyes to reduce environmental impact. The only visible difference is that the brass hardware no longer oxidizes in the dye bath.

- Four-button fly, with the extra button added for the higher rise
- Iron Heart branded tack button at the waistband
- WORKS INC. branded pocket rivets and hidden rivets on the rear pockets
- Poly/cotton thread with single- and double-needle chainstitch construction
- Belt loops anchored at three points and sewn into the waistband
- Heavy cotton pocket bags and lined rear pockets
- Selvedge ID at the side seams, fly, and coin pocket
- 2mm vegetable-tanned steerhide patch with a natural finish, belt-through design, and debossed Iron Heart graphic

Wash/Sanforization
- Sanforized, one-washed, and overdyed; no further shrinkage expected when washed as directed
- Wash at 30°C/86°F with a low or no spin cycle, then hang dry
- Repeated washing, especially hot, may shrink or deform the leather patch
